Las Vegas 350 Post Race
JACK SPRAGUE, NO 16 CHEVY TRUCKS SILVERADO, QUALIFIED 20TH, FINISHED 4TH:
"We were just on the verge of being a tick loose but our Chevy Trucks Silverado was good tonight. Chris (Showalter, crew chief) made great calls in the pits tonight; we made adjustments the first two stops and then left it alone on the last stop. We needed a long green run. Those restarts and short runs hurt us because we would start out loose but got better as the laps went on.
"We started 20th and worked our way through the field pretty well but the water temperature went up on the truck so we pitted under green to find out what the problem was. We had a tear off covering the grill so it is a good thing we pitted or we would have hurt the motor running at 260 degrees. Fortunately we got a full green flag pit stop cycle and came back in the order running fourth.
"David got a run on us through three on the last lap of that green, white checkered and we had a little drag race there to the finish line. It was a good race tonight, we really needed it for everyone on our team."
RON HORNADAY, NO. 6 GM GOODWRENCH SILVERADO, QUALIFIED 11TH, FINISHED 13TH:
"We were so tight all night and then we ended up a lap down. We got the truck set up how we needed it, but we couldn't catch a break or a caution to get our lap back. I think we could have finished better had we gotten it back. At the end we had nothing to lose and came in and put a qualifying set up on. The tires we used we so bad that it didn't make a difference. Not a bad night for the GM Goodwrench team, but it could have been better."
DENNIS SETZER, NO 46 CHEVROLET Z71 SILVERADO, QUALIFIED 22ND, FINISHED 14TH:
"Not what you guys were looking for with the championship battle heating up?
No it wasn't tonight was a really tough night for the whole forty-six Silverado team. We couldn't get any grip on the first long run of the race. That got us down a lap and we really never were able to make that up. Eric and the guys made some adjustments to get us a little better but we still weren't where we needed to be. The tires we had here tonight would really fall off bad after about forty laps. Then you just had to be smart about picking your spots."
You've still got the points lead but its much smaller than it was just two or three races ago. What approach do you take going into the final five races?
"We know we have to be better than this. There are two more tests that we have scheduled coming up and that will help us prepare for some tracks of this size. Martinsville is next, and it's my favorite track. So we've got some good things going for us and we will just have to keep plugging away and go out in each of those races and try to win them."
