Caitlin Shaw Excited for Her First NASCAR Start at ORP
* First NASCAR Start...Caitlin Shaw is making her first ever NASCAR start this weekend at O'Reilly Raceway Park. When she takes the green flag on Friday night in the #1 Red Horse Racing Tundra, she will become the second youngest female to compete in the Camping World Truck Series at just 19-years-old. She does have experience in a Toyota Tundra though. Shaw has tested trucks for multiple teams including Germain Racing and Red Horse Racing.
* Nearly A Decade Of Experience...Shaw has an open wheel background, but made the switch to stock car racing this year at Hickory Motor Speedway. She competed in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series No. 12 Calico Coatings late model to get approved for NASCAR's Camping World Truck Series. Shaw currently races in the USAC National Series but has more than a decade of racing experience under her belt. The 19-year-old started racing quarter midgets when she was just nine years old. She moved up to Mini-Sprints at age 14 and then advanced to the USAC Ford Focus Midget Racing Series just one year later. Shaw has earned multiple championships in quarter midgets and received the Most Improved Mini-Sprint Driver at Sandia Motorsports Park.
* Student By Day...Although she is dedicated to her racing career, Shaw is also working on her college degree at Belmont-Abbey College. She will begin her Sophomore year in the fall and is pursing a degree in Motorsports Marketing.
Caitlin Shaw on racing at O'Reilly Raceway Park "ORP has always been one of my favorite tracks. I started running there last year when I made the jump to the USAC National Midgets and we tested the track a lot so that should help with the transition. I've never gotten to run or test a stock car at ORP, but at least I'm familiar with the track. I know that a lot of the people I've grown up racing with will be competing there Thursday night and that really helps to make me feel more comfortable too. ORP is like a home track to me because I lived in Indiana most of my high school summers so I could race. That combined with having lots of lap time at the facility is going to really help me in Friday's race."
Caitlin Shaw on Working with Crew Chief Billy Venturini "I'm very excited to get the opportunity to work with Billy on Friday. I've heard great things about him. I'm very lucky that I get the chance to work with him and the crew he is bringing for my first race. I couldn't have asked to learn from better people."
