GM Racing Chevrolet Team Silverado IRP Notes and Quotes
Points Leader Dennis Setzer to Start on Pole at IRP Weather Forces Cancellation of Qualifying, Field Set by Owners Points The two scheduled practice sessions and qualifying for the Power Stroke Diesel 200 for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Indianapolis Raceway Park was cancelled due to a steady rain. The rain quit at approximately 2:45 p.m. and track-drying procedures began. NASCAR scheduled a one- hour practice session from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The race will commence at the scheduled 7:45 pm CDT.
The 36-truck field will lineup according to points, the top-30 in owner points with the remainder of the field set according to provisions in the NCTS rulebook.
DENNIS SETZER, NO 46 CHEVROLET SILVERADO, 10TH IN PRACTICE, STARTING FIRST: "We were a little tight during practice but I think we will be fine for the race. Here at IRP it is obviously an advantage to start on the pole. Track position is critical here. We have had good runs here before but not finished where we needed to. We definitely want to turn it around here."
RON HORNADAY, NO. 6 GM GOODWRENCH SILVERADO, 7TH IN PRACTICE, STARTING FOURTH: "We are pretty good, we got the truck where we need it for the start of the race. I have had some good runs here in the past and really would like to get out GM Goodwrench Silverado back in victory lane tonight."
DAVID STARR, NO. 75 SPEARS MANUFACTURING SILVERADO, 22nd IN PRACTICE, STARTING 10TH: "We struggled during practice. We went from tight to loose to tight. I know Dave McCarty and the crew will figure out something before the start of the race so we can get a good finish tonight."
JACK SPRAGUE, NO 16 CHEVY TRUCKS SILVERADO,FIRST IN PRACTICE, STARTING 12TH: "We are pretty good. We had a chance to work on a few things to see how the truck would react. I am very comfortable in the Chevy Trucks Silverado. This is one of my favorite tracks and it would be a great place to get our team back in victory lane"
ARIC ALMIROLA, NO. 47 HOME DEPOT/JGR PERFORMANCE OIL SILVERADO, 25TH IN PRACTICE, STARTING 31ST: "We were pretty tight during practice and nothing we did really seemed to help. But I know Randy Goss and the crew will get us so we will race good night. I am really looking forward to back in the Home Depot Silverado tonight and just really want to have a good finish for our team and sponsors."
JOHNNY SAUTER, NO. 43 MENARD'S/CURB RECORDS SILVERADO, ELIMINATED FROM COMPETITION AS A RESULT OF NO QUALIFYING: "The Good Lord must have decided Indiana needed rain more than we needed to race. After the great run we had in last year's race here at IRP, we are really disappointed in qualifying being cancelled due to all the rain, but that is part of the deal. I was hoping to get another shot at winning a truck race here but we will just have to wait until next year." -gm racing-
