David Starr Looks for Another Home Run

When Round 14 of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series roars into action Friday, August 6th at Indianapolis Raceway Park, David Starr and the Spears Motorsports crew will be looking for another home run.

"So far this year we have been up and down," says Starr who took the win at Gateway two weeks ago. "We had a really disappointing run at Michigan last week. Despite incredible efforts on the part of Dave McCarty and the entire crew, we just couldn't get our Spears Chevy hooked up. Now is the time to makeup for that. We just crossed the half-way mark in the season and we want consistent top finishes at each and every round left."

Not one to take losing lying down, Starr's determination and that of everyone on the team is evident. "We have a strong Chevy truck, great backing and input from the factory, and incredible sponsor and one of the best crews in the industry," continues Starr. "We have proved we can win, now we just need to be really consistent."

The race at Indianapolis Raceway Park utilizes a one-day format, with haulers entering early Friday morning and the race taking place on Friday night. "You need to be able to dial everything in during the one and only practice session," says Starr. "You practice, you qualify and then you race. The expertise of your crew definitely comes into play in this type of format and that's where I am lucky. IRP is one of the most exciting, challenging tracks on the circuit. Setup is all-important. You have to have a truck that cuts good in the center and has good forward bite. Our No. 75 Spears Chevy should be up to the job and I am looking forward to being able to rebound from last weekend."

Currently ranked 12th in the point standings, there is no doubt, with a little luck, that Starr can move his Spears Chevy way up the ladder. Consistency is the key, he says and that is what we are striving for. We're ready to do battle and fly the Spears banner on the podium.

Qualifying for the Power Stroke 200 takes place at 4:45 PM (ET) with race action getting underway at 8:00 PM (ET). TV coverage is live on SPEED TV.
