Career at IRP:
This will be Chad Chaffin's seventh career start at the Indianapolis Raceway Park. In addition to his two previous starts at the track in the Craftsman Truck Series he also has four starts in the Busch Series to his credit.
Chad On IRP:
"IRP is my type of race track and our strong runs there in the past show that. It reminds me of my days of racing at the old Nashville Fairgrounds where I really cut my teeth and learned so much about this sport. Last year the win at IRP on the last lap was a dramatic and big win for me. We had an awesome truck there all day as we were strong in practice and qualifying as well as there at the end of the race. This Wyler Racing team has only been in existence for four races but I think we are getting close to being able to have an awesome performance like I did here last year. This team has done an incredible job and Tony Furr is top notch in how he runs the organization. I think Tony and I are starting to know each other real well and our performance will start to show that here in the second half of the season. I really made a dumb driver's error last week in Memphis and I feel bad for this team and all of the hard work they have done for the driver to make a mistake like that -- nothing would make me happier than to bring home the checkered flag for the second year in a row at IRP."
The Million Dollar Man:
By virtue of starting the race on Friday night at Indianapolis Raceway Park, Chad Chaffin will become the 28th driver in the history of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series to achieve $1 Million in career winnings. Chad currently sits with a winnings total of $997,839 in the Craftsman Truck Series.
"When I was told I was going to be the 28th driver in the history of this series to reach the $1 Million mark I was a little surprised to be honest. That is not something that I ever pay attention to but I would have guessed there would have been more than 28 reach this accomplishment. It is honor to be a member of this group and the other 27 great drivers who have reached this mark as well. I hope I am in this series long enough to earn another million in race winnings and a few victories along the way."
* Chad is the defending champion of the IRP race as he collected his second win during the 2004 season with a dramatic last lap pass for the win.
* Chad will be making his 72nd career start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and his fifth start for the new Wyler Racing organization.
