Ex- Bullring champion to race NASCAR Craftsman Truck at IRP

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Former Mini Stock track champion and Late Model driver Casey Kingsland will make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Indianapolis Raceway Park Friday in the Power Stroke Diesel 200. Kingsland has competed in several different racing series at the Bullring since 2000.

Kingsland's racing credentials include the 2000 Mini Stock track championship at the Bullring, competing in the Late Model division in 2001 and then moving on to the Mechanix Wear Speed Truck Challenge in 2002. He also has competed in three Speed Truck races at the Bullring this year.

This will be the first of five NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races for Kingsland and the No. 66 MLB Motorsports Dodge team. The Sept. 27 Las Vegas 350 will be the third race in that group.

"IRP is a short track. I grew up racing on short tracks, so it is a good track for me to start with," Kingsland said. "It's a driver's racetrack unlike a superspeedway. I'm looking forward to the practice in the series this year and running full-time in the truck series next year. Hopefully, my experience at the Bullring all these years will help me at IRP."

In addition to IRP and LVMS, Kingsland, 19, is scheduled to compete at Richmond, Phoenix and Homestead later this season.

Kingsland will be one of four former Bullring drivers competing in Indianapolis this weekend. Current Trucks Series points leader Brendan Gaughan will join Kingsland in the Power Stroke Diesel 200. The following night, Las Vegas' Kyle Busch will make his second career NASCAR Busch Series start in the Kroger 200. Also Saturday, Kurt Busch will be looking to capture the championship in the International Race of Champions. On Sunday, Kurt Busch will compete in his third Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
