ROYAL CROWN RACE NOTES POWERSTROKE 200 BY FORD/INTERNATIONAL INDIANAPOLIS RACEWAY PARK AUGUST 5, 1999
FOUR, THREE, TWO AND ONE Last Sunday at New Hampshire International Speedway, Stacy Compton collected his fourth Bud Pole Award this season. Team RC is currently third in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with 2474 points. Driver Stacy Compton has won two consecutive poles in the NCTS (Michigan and Loudon) and is looking for number three at IRP. And finally, Compton and the No. 86 RC Dodge team hopes to gather their first win of the '99 campaign in Thursday night's race at IRP.
YOU BETTER BE CLOSE WHEN YOU UNLOAD Thursday's race at IRP is a one-day show for the NCTS teams, which leaves little room for error. "We need to be prepared when we unload the primary truck," said Compton. "There is one practice before qualifying and then we have an hour to work on our qualifying setup. You better be close to perfect when you unload on Thursday morning."
TEAM RC'S GOAL: START UP FRONT AND STAY UP FRONT Compton remembers how tough it is to pass on this track. "We need to have a good qualifying run," Compton said. "It's tough to get around anyone here, so we need to start up front and stay up front. Track position at the start of the race is key. We need to be at the top of our game."
