HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Steve Portenga is scheduled to start 34th in the Ford 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Portenga earned the provisional starting position in qualifying for the race held Thursday, November 14. The race is Friday, November 15.
"We've struggled to get up to speed here all day," Portenga said. "But we're in the race and we're ready to race. We're in a good point battle. We need a good race tomorrow to stay in the top 20."
Portenga is currently 18th in the series point standings. He leads a pack of four drivers spanning the 18th to 22nd positions that are separated by just 42 points.
"The top-20 get post season bonus money," Portenga noted. "The Roto-Rooter Chevrolet needs to have a good run in this race to protect our position in the top-20."
The Ford 200 is scheduled to see the green flag at 3:30 p.m. EST/12:30 p.m. PST Friday, November 15. The race will be telecast live on ESPN2 and broadcast on the radio affiliates of the Motor Racing Network (MRN).
