Dotter starting 21st in NCTS season finale at Homestead.

Homestead, FL Bobby Dotter will start the Stanley Steemer/People Against Drugs #08 Chevy Silverado from the 21st position in Friday afternoon's Ford 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The 134-lap event is the final race of the 22-race schedule for the Truck Series.

Dotter turned a lap of 37.977 seconds/142.191 miles per hour on the flat 1.5-mile oval. Dotter's fastest lap in qualifying was 1.270 seconds off the pole-winning time of 36.707, which translates into 147.111 mph.

"We were a little surprised with the way the truck has handled since we've been here," Dotter said after qualifying. "You always hear how everyone comes here and fights a tight condition, and that is what we expected. But for some reason, we have been loose here all day."

Dotter and the People Against Drugs Racing team are looking to wind up the season with a flourish, both to impress potential 2003 sponsor Stanley Steemer and to catch points nemesis Lance Norick for the 13th position in NCTS point standings.

"We really want to make a good impression with the people at Stanley Steemer," Dotter continued. "We have 1-800-STEEMER on the truck this weekend and we want people who see the logo on the broadcast to call and schedule an appointment or just to get some information. If we can get enough people to call, maybe we can work out a deal with them for 2003.

We also need to run well to catch Norick in the points. We have made up a lot of ground the past few races, so anything is possible. We need to go out and do our job and let things take care of themselves. All we can do is our best."

Dotter and the rest of the NCTS stars take the green at Homestead-Miami Speedway at 3:15 pm ET. The race will be telecast flag-to-flag on ESPN2 starting at 3:30 pm, and can be heard on NASCAR Radio on XM Satellite Radio and on MRN Radio affiliates nationwide starting at 2:45 pm ET.
