Dotter takes 17th in O'Reilly Auto Parts 400.
Fort Worth, TX: Bobby Dotter and the #08 Albertson's/Puma Tools.com Chevrolet team finished 17th in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 400 at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday night. Dotter, who started the event from the 19th position, had worked his way into the top-15, but was slowed near the end by a vibration in the rear end.
"The whole tail of the truck is coated in rear-end grease," Dotter said. "It vibrated pretty badly there towards the end of the race, and that slowed us down a little as we got near then end.
"It's a shame we had that little problem there because we were really good on that last set of tires. I think we could have picked up a few spots as good as we were."
The Albertson's Chevy was one of several trucks that was trapped a lap down to leader Mike Bliss when a caution came out midway through the first round of scheduled green flag pit stops.
"Bliss stayed out when everyone else pitted," Dotter explained. "We had pitted and the yellow came out two laps later. It is a real shame because it trapped us a couple of laps down. Had it cycled through with no yellow, we would have been a lot better off. But you know, that is just a part of racing. Sometimes it works for you and sometimes it works against you. Unfortunately it got us here tonight. But, as we predicted, there was some trouble out there tonight and we managed to miss it all. When you can put in on the trailer in one piece, that is a good day."
"I hope we put on a good show for the Albertson's people this weekend. We had a nice luncheon for everyone the other day and it went really well. I hope they enjoyed being a part of the weekend as much as we enjoyed having them."
Dotter and the Green Light Racing team return to action in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 200 at the Memphis Motorsports Park on Saturday, June 22. The event will be televised live on ESPN and broadcast on MRN Radio affiliates nationwide.
