DENNIS SETZER RALLIES TO TOP-10 FINISH AT CALIFORNIA
Fontana, CA -- Dennis Setzer and his No. 46 Silverado race team looked like they were on their way to at least a top-five finish in the American Racing Wheels 200 on Friday night. However, Dennis received a flat tire due to contact with another truck with just thirty laps to go, and had to rally from nineteenth position to score his first top-ten finish of the 2005 season.
"We had a top-three truck tonight," said Setzer. "We overcame a couple of problems there in the pits, but we got a flat when the seventy-five truck hit us there near the end of the race. We had to put some old tires on the truck that had a heat cycle in them and the truck was really loose those last few laps. We couldn't get off the corners like we needed to so we could get down the straights like we needed. I just couldn't hang on to it in the corners like I needed to because it was too loose and we couldn't get it back. I think we restarted nineteenth and got a top ten out of this so that's not too bad. We haven't had any luck here at the start of this season, but we've got a great team and we will get back to the front where we know we can run."
Dennis started in sixteenth position after qualifying under NASCAR's new impound format. All trucks were impounded after qualifying and held without allowing set-up changes by the crews prior to the race. Dennis had moved as high as third position by late in the race, but contact from the crashing truck of David Starr caused a flat tire. The crew had to put older tires on for the final sprint, but Dennis was able to move his race truck through the field in the waning laps and take a respectable tenth-place finish. Setzer's California finish moved him to ninth in the overall point standings.
The next race for Dennis Setzer and his No. 46 Silverado race team will be the World Financial 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday, March 18th. Live green flag begins on the Speed Channel Friday, March 18th at 8:30 pm EST with radio coverage coming on MRN Affiliates and XM Satellite radio at 8:45 p.m.
