Hamilton Gets Organized
Organizing: "We've been spending this past week organizing things at the race shop. Sometimes things get busy and it seems like everything clutters up around you. Now that we had a few days off and everyone is waiting on the fab shop to catch up after two wrecked trucks from Charlotte, the rest of us are cleaning house, having meetings and trying to stay on top of our game. Racing can get overwhelming if you don't keep your finger on it. It takes every employee to do that, and then someone to follow up with each position. I am the owner/driver/follow-upper."
Teaching the Young Guns: "It's been said that BHR is one of the places that brings up the next young guns. It didn't really get planned that way, but has just so happen to work out this year like that. I have Chase Montgomery who is in his second year of full-time truck racing and then Timothy Peters who is running for Rookie-of-the-Year. They are both really different drivers, but have a lot of the same characteristics off the track. We all work together during the practices and test sessions to use all the knowledge we get out there, but it usually ends up being the old guy's setup that works the best. I go over with Chase and Timothy things they can do during a race at certain tracks to gain speed. I wish someone had done all of that with me. Now the biggest thing is whether they actually do it or not; and sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. I told them I would help them as much as they needed until race time, but once that green flag drops they are another competitor out there to me. So if I pass them, then I am picking up another position."
* The Tennessee native will be racing Stiffler in Dover this weekend.
* Hamilton raced that truck one other time this year (formerly called Hot Carl), in Martinsville. After a short-track racing mishap he finished the event in 20th position.
* Hamilton has the most wins this season, he is the only double winner in 2005.
* The reigning NCTS Champion started seventh last year in Dover and finished in 19th position. He raced in the top five for most of the race when a scheduled green-flag pit stop for fuel cost him that finishing position.
Craftsman Sponsoring Five More Years: "I'm glad to see that Craftsman has decided to re-up with NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for five more years. They have been a tremendous asset to our series and we look forward to working with them for many years to come. I think they have done an outstanding job promoting this series and using their drivers to grow the Craftsman Truck Series into what it is today. We have really come a long way since the inception of the Truck Series, so I can only imagine what we will be like in another five years. I hope that the fan base continues to grow, and the support we get from the manufacturers and sponsors will continue to field more competition. It's just getting fun."
