Dillon gets by Cup regulars for the win in Kentucky 225

Ty Dillon got the best of a couple of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regulars at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta on Thursday night to claim the win in the UNOH 225 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race from behind the wheel of his No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. It was Dillon's first win of the season, following a second-place showing in the last race at Texas Speedway to rebound from a string of poor finishes.

"We have a strong team and won't give up," Dillon said.

The two Sprint Cup Series regulars in the race, Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch, finished second and third in trucks they own, with Keselowski taking runner-up honors in the No. 19 Brad Keselowski Racing Ford and Busch third in the No. 51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota.

The second-place finish was Keselowski's fourth runner-up showing in the series in which he is still winless.

"We've got a lot of seconds, but not a win," Keselowski said. One's coming soon.

Dillon took the lead from Busch with about 25 laps to go, taking advantage of contact between Busch and the No. 29 Brad Keselowski Racing Ford of Ryan Blaney. Busch made contact with Blaney with 31 laps remaining in the 150-lap race, causing Blaney to scrape the wall. Busch's performance afterward also suffered.

"We got together in (turn) four and wound up in the wall, and we just weren't good after that," Blaney said. Blaney did manage to remain in the top-five, though, finishing fifth.

Dillon got by Blaney for second when Blaney scraped the wall and then took the lead from Busch a few laps later. Several more laps after Dillon took the lead, Keselowski was also able to pass Busch and take the second spot.

Busch almost lost third to the No. 31 Turner Scott Motorsports Chevrolet of James Buescher. Buescher challenged Busch hard in the closing laps, pulling up beside him a couple of times. The two drivers raced side-by-side to the checkered flag for the third spot, with Busch just barely ahead. Buescher, as a result, wound up fourth.

Blaney started the race from the pole and held on to the position until the No. 54 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota got off pit road first by taking only two tires during a caution that came out on lap 25. Keselowski restarted second, also taking only two tires. But several laps later, Keselowski got the feeling that something was wrong with his truck and the driver lost several positions.

"I don't know," Keselowski said. "I thought something wasn't right. I may have screwed it up. Something didn't feel right."

Keselowski headed back down pit road and his team looked under the hood, but a problem wasn't found.

Wallace maintained his position in the lead until his truck owner, Busch, got off pit road first during a caution on lap 80 to restart in the lead. Keselowski came off pit road second, but headed down pit road again. After the race, Keselowski said that his fuel man had gotten gasoline in his eyes, and the team didn't get the truck full, necessitating the extra stop.

A few laps later, the yellow flag waved again when Wallace spun and hit the wall, ending his shot for the race win.

"We had the truck to beat," Wallace said. "We were beating the boss (Busch), so that was pretty fun."

After the race, the boss confirmed that Wallace probably had the fastest truck.

Busch continued to lead the way until his was passed by Dillon, which ended up being the pass for the win.
