Shane Sieg Ready for Season Opener at Daytona
As any race car driver would be, up-and-coming driver Shane Sieg is excited about kicking off the 2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) at Daytona (FL) International Speedway for the Chevy Silverado 250. Sieg will pilot the #07 ASILIMITED; Akzo Nobel; Spectrum Metal Finishing Chevrolet for the newly formed joint-venture SS-Green Light Racing team. It will mark the debut race for SS-Green Light Racing since making their Joint-Venture announcement just a month ago. Sieg tested for the team at Dayton recently and was signed for 9-races after his successful test run.
"I'm always excited before any race, but racing at Daytona is like no other event," Sieg says. "There is so much history there, but it's also a place where the speeds are very fast and you have to be very mentally prepared. We're probably making a million decisions every second out there."
Sieg raced at Daytona back in 2004, where he started 27th and finished a respectable 23rd. He tested as high as 9th place at the Pre-Season Thunder Test Sessions earlier this year. The team is confident in their driver and equipment, but expectations are also realistic. "We are looking to finish and have a solid clean run," said Bobby Dotter, Co-Owner and Crew Chief of SS-Green Light Racing. "Things can happen fast at Daytona and trucks can end their day in big numbers. We want to be out of the Big One and get Shane the most seat time possible."
