Chase On Darlington:
Chase is coming off his worst career finish last week in Phoenix where a blown right front tire ended his day early and relegated him to a 36th place finish.
"I am really excited about finally getting the opportunity to race at Darlington. The track has so much history and I remember the days of growing up and watching the great drivers of the past race at Darlington on TV. I am sure it will take me some time to get used to the track and find the right line around there. I got a great teacher in Bobby Hamilton who has been very successful at Darlington (defending race winner) and I will lean on him for as much information and coaching as I can get. The guys on this BHR2 team have been doing a fantastic job in providing me with fast trucks, so if I can get used to the track quickly then we should be in for a good showing."
#8 DODGE at Darlington:
Chase will be racing the chassis nicknamed "Trix" this weekend at Darlington. This will be the fourth race of the 2004 season for "Trix" and the truck has produced many mixed results. This is the truck that Chase sat on the outside pole with at the season opener in Daytona and eventually was caught up in the "big one". A new body was hung on "Trix" after Daytona and the team struggled with the truck at Charlotte before being very strong with it at Dover - but then getting into the oil from a competitors blown motor and hitting hard into the turn one wall. Since then, Chase has tested the truck at Kentucky a few months ago with very good results. Look for "Trix" to be a strong truck for the track known as "Too Tough To Tame".
It is no secret that Chase Montgomery is not a morning person - thus it is no surprise that he enjoys when the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races under the lights at night.
"I think night racing is just so cool. It always seems to provide for some special energy with both the teams as well as the fans in attendance. It reminds me a lot of the local racing we did growing up and those were some great times. Also, I am not a morning person and if we race at night it usually means that I get to sleep in a little bit on race day - and that is always nice.
"To be part of the first night race in the history of the historic Darlington Raceway is something I am sure I will always remember. A lot of great drivers have raced on this track, but until the green flag drops on Friday night no one has raced this great track under the lights - it will be awesome."
Career at Darlington:
Chase will be making his career debut at the Darlington Raceway.
