Chad Chaffin Tabs Darlington as Favorite Track

Under the Lights: "Darlington Raceway is my favorite race track. You race really close to the wall and if you are not careful it will bite you. The last time the Dickies Racing Team raced at Darlington we had a very solid run and I am looking forward to repeating that. This weekend we are running under the lights. I really enjoy night racing. It reminds me of the racing so many of the drivers in our series cut their teeth on. The fans love night racing because they can really see the sparks fly. I think it is good for our series because so many of our races are run on a Friday afternoon when many people are still at work. By running the race at night more fans will get to watch it live. I think we will begin to see more races in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series being run under the lights in the future."

Be Prepared: "Preparation is the key to driving into victory lane after the race. It can make you or break you. We do our homework and have well prepared trucks at Bobby Hamilton Racing. I think that is a testament to how well the organization has run this year and why Bobby is sitting in the points lead. I hate to say this and jinx us, but you never hear of our stuff breaking. It just doesn't happen very often. If we don't finish a race it is because we got involved in someone else's mess. Preparation at the race track is as important as preparation at the shop. So much can happen during a race that is out of your control; how you react to it will determine where you finish. The past couple of races my guys repaired wrecked trucks in a timely manner. Some teams do that better than others and I am proud of how fast they can put my truck back together and get me back on the track. It may not seem like much at the time, but it makes a lot of difference at the end. Getting back on the track quickly can make a big difference in where you finish the race and that is the ultimate goal."

Notes:

* Chad is racing Butthead this weekend at Darlington.

* He has three top-five finishes including a win at IRP in this particular truck.

* Chaffin finished 5th last year around the 1.366-mile egg-shaped oval.

Bad Luck: "Right now we are definitely in a slump and I think it is because we are not running as strong as we were early in the year. Every weekend we find ourselves running in the middle of the pack at the beginning of the race. It takes awhile to move up and when you are back in the pack, you usually end up getting involved in a wreck with a slower truck. I am not blaming anyone because that is how racing goes. I have all the confidence in the world in my guys and they have the same in me. Racing luck can change so quickly and we've had a lot of bad luck lately. Phoenix is over and now we have to concentrate on Darlington. This team can still win races and finish in the top five. With a little luck we will prove that this weekend and next."
