Dana Corporation Opens Research Facility to NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Teams

Toledo, Ohio (July 19,1999)---The Dana Corporation, which sponsors Bobby Hamilton's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team, showed their support of the series by opening their Technical Research Park (TRP) to their fellow competitors on the days following the event at Nazareth Speedway. The event was planned, as a way to aid many of the teams traveling from Nazareth Speedway to Michigan Speedway that would need to work on their trucks. The TRP is the facility that Dana Corporation uses to enhance automotive knowledge along with testing new parts or ideas. Also a road course is located on the grounds to simulate real driving conditions. "The schedule in this series is pretty rough," said Armedee Nadeau, Manager of Motorsports for Dana. "We're in the middle of 10 races in as many weeks and that has many of the teams scrabbling to get home and get work done on their trucks. That's why Dana Corporation opened up the TRP and provided lunch for any teams that wanted to come straight over from Nazareth to work. It's our way of just trying to go that extra mile." Nadeau went on to say, "This is the best series in the world. We have to race against these teams every week, but we all have to work together to make this type of racing work. That's what NASCAR Truck racing is all about." Included in the use of the indoor facility, lunch was catered by Dana's onsite cafeteria. The idea was to provide the teams a place to work other than a hotel or mall parking lot and give them a good meal other than fast food. Dana Corporation is one of the world's largest independent suppliers to vehicle manufacturers and the aftermarket. Founded in 1904 and based in Toledo, Ohio, the company operates some 330 major facilities in 32 countries and employs more than 86,000 people. The company reported sales of $12.5 billion in 1998.
