Fontana, CA- Rick Crawford and the #14 Milwaukee Electric Tool Ford nailed a second place finish in the Auto Club 200, at the California Speedway. The finish is their second top three in the last two races. Crawford Started the race in third place after Friday afternoon's qualifying effort.
The second place finish is bitter sweet for the #14 Ford. The race at Fontana is the last race of the NCTS season and with Milwaukee Electric Tool as the primary sponsor. Milwaukee is stepping down after two successful seasons. The company stated economic reasons, but plans to maintain a relationship with the team. "We wanted to send Milwaukee out on a winning note. We were close but came up a little short," stated driver Rick Crawford.
Once again Crawford wasted no time in charging to the front. Crawford knew he had a fast truck and moved into second place by the end of the first lap. By lap 24 Crawford took the lead and picked up five bonus points for leading the race. Crawford and the #14 Milwaukee Electric Tool Ford were in contention for the win all afternoon. "Ray Stonkus and the Milwaukee Heavy Duty Crew did an outstanding job and gave me a truck that was capable of running toward the front the whole race. Greg Jacobs and Ernie Elliott Incorporated gave me another great engine. The horsepower was top notch," commented Crawford. The race ended with a two-lap shoot out and Crawford finished a convincing second place.
The team has picked up the pace the last ten races of the season. The #14 Ford has finished only once outside of the top six and four of those finishes were third place or better. For the season, the team has sixteen top ten finishes. Of those there are ten top five with four of those being top 3 finishes. Crawford and the #14 Ford end the season eighth in the NCTS point standings.
