Coughlin to sub for injured Townley at Texas

Cody Coughlin will replace John Wes Townley behind the wheel of the No. 05 Zaxby’s Chevrolet at Texas Motor Speedway this Friday night.

Townley has been sidelined with a non-racing related injury to his left ankle. It's not the first time Townley has been forced out of the truck this year, having missed two races already due to concussion-like symptoms.

This will mark Coughlin's tenth CWTS appearance this season. He drove for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the previous nine, scoring his career-best result in the spring Texas race (12th).

“I want to wish John Wes a speedy recovery and hope he’s back at the track soon,” said Coughlin in a release. “I’m honored that Athenian Motorsports thought of me to drive their truck this weekend.

“I like Texas a lot. I had a lot of speed when I ran the truck race there this summer. I feel like I can really get around that place and Athenian’s trucks are fast. I think that’s going to make for a good weekend for us.”
