Chaffin Uses BHR's Strong Superspeedway Program to his advantage

BHR's Strong Superspeedway Program: "This is our biggest race of the year. I think, based on the test sessions we've had, my truck is good enough to win the Florida Dodge Dealers 250. Our team has a really strong superspeedway program and we put a lot of effort into winning in Daytona. Last year we were all fast. So we're going to try to use that same momentum this year. Bobby and my Dickies Dodge were really strong in drafting at the test session. I guess we'll see how the race unfolds when the green flag drops, but don't be surprised to see BHR in the winner's circle."

First Daytona Night Race: "It's going to be different racing at night in Daytona. First of all, it's going to be quite a bit cooler. I have raced here at night one time in a NASCAR Busch Series race. The lighting is so good that you see the shadow of your truck and the shadow of the other trucks actually reflecting off the wall. There are a lot of things that really play tricks with you during the race, so you have to rely on your spotter more at night than you do during the day. Racing at Daytona is tremendous anyway, but to be under the lights is going to give it a whole new excitement. BHR sets the pace for Daytona as far as trucks are concerned, so we can grab the first night truck race win."

Carrying Things Over and Leaving Behind: "I learned a lot last year about racing trucks instead of cars. I think now that I've competed at every track, except for the new ones, I think I'll be better next year. That is basically what I can carry over. I still have the same sponsor and I know what their expectations, so I think off track will go really smooth and easy. I think we can do them an even better job than we did last year. There is about three or four races that I feel like we had missed opportunities and we had ourselves a shot at winning. In those events if we didn't run out of gas or have mechanical problems, we had the opportunity to shine. Those races would have made our season 100% better. We finished in the top 10 in points, but this year we want to finish higher than that."

Notes:

The truck Chad is racing is called Oscar. It has previously been raced by Bill Lester, Willy T. Ribbs and Hamilton. Chaffin tested this truck in Daytona consistently posting some of the fastest lap times in the truck series field.

Chaffin will be appearing on Wednesday, Feb 11th at the Daytona USA Fan Forum from 3-3:30 pm. He will also be appearing on Thursday, Feb 12th at Dodge City from 12-12:30 pm before the NNCS Gatorade 125 mile qualifying races.

Kip McCord as my Crew Chief "I think Kip and I will get along really well. We are a lot alike in the way we try to handle things. He's the type of person that I feel comfortable that I can tell him how I feel. I don't have to pretend the truck is good if it is not with Kip. He's real open-minded and I think I am too. I think our chemistry will be great. We do have a new team and so we have some work to do on the team in general, like to get our pit stops down and make sure everyone knows their job.

Off Season: I've done a little bit of golfing in the off-season, but unfortunately our off-season isn't the best golf time. Most of the time I've worked at my business, Southeastern Recycling, and spent time with my family doing what they want to do."
