BROOKLYN, Mich. - Steve Portenga was beaming again Saturday. After finishing 11th in the Michigan 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Michigan International Speedway July 27, Portenga was all smiles.

"It was another good day for the Roto-Rooter Chevrolet," Portenga said. "We didn't get the top 10 that I thought we could. We got to racing with a couple of them there at the end and couldn't quite get that 10th position.

"But it was a very good day for us. The truck ran great. The guys made good pit stops. I think we've found the consistency we were looking for a few weeks ago. We're capable of running the top-10 every week. That's right where we wanted to be at this point in the season."

The performance was Portenga's fifth-straight finish among the top-20. He's moved into 20th position in the series point standings, the only driver in the top-20 to have missed a race. Portenga failed to qualify for an April event in Martinsville, Va.

"We closing the gap on the top-15 in the points, too" Portenga said. "If we can keep running like we have, I think we can still get into the top-15 in the points at the end of the year."

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series continues with the Power Stroke 200 at the Indianapolis Raceway Park Friday, August 2.
