Ballew Inks Four Race Sponsorship with Samsung Instinct; 'Award-winning touch screen phone to serve as truck sponsor for NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races'
CONCORD, NC -- (May 8, 2009) - Billy Ballew Motorsports announced today that Samsung Mobile's premiere touch screen phone, the Samsung Instinct, will be the primary sponsor on the No. 15 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series truck in the next four events starting at Lowe's Motor Speedway, May 15, 2009. The Samsung Instinct will also serve as an associate sponsor of the No. 51 Toyota Tundra. The Samsung Instinct first served as the primary sponsor on the No. 15 Camping World Truck Series Tundra at Kansas Speedway earlier this month.
Brian Ickler is slated to drive the No. 15 Samsung Instinct NASCAR Camping World Truck at Lowe's Motor Speedway May 15th, Dover International Raceway May 29th and Michigan International Speedway June 13th, 2009. Ickler, in his career first start in the NCWTS, posted a fifth place finish in Kansas piloting the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports entry. Ryan Lawler, who drove for Billy Ballew Motorsports in 2008, will take the wheel of the No. 15 at Texas Motor Speedway on June 5th with Ickler in the No. 51 Tundra.
Samsung Mobile agreed to continue their partnership with Billy Ballew Motorsports in response to positive support and feedback from NASCAR fans and Samsung Mobile customers. They also believe the continued partnership helps them increase awareness of how the Samsung Instinct family of mobile phones supports the instant informational needs of NASCAR fans. The Samsung Instinct provides the NASCAR enthusiast with the ability to watch live SPEED Channel coverage and video on demand, listen to live race radio and in-car audio, plus view real time stats for qualifying, leader board, lap times, time behind and point's standings, all with the portability of a mobile phone.
"There is a natural tie between the power and performance of the Samsung Instinct and the instincts that the NASCAR driver needs when racing in a pack of powerful trucks 160-plus miles an hour," said Bill Ogle, Chief Marketing Officer, for Samsung Mobile. "Plus, the Samsung Instinct is our premiere mobile device at Sprint, which is the sponsor of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Racing Series. These alliances make the sponsorship with Ballew Motorsports a great fit for Samsung Mobile."
"I'm excited about the opportunity," Ickler said. "We had such a good run in Kansas and with Samsung Mobile coming onboard I can get back behind the wheel of this Billy Ballew Motorsports equipment and hopefully bring home another solid top-5 finish for them at Lowe's. Samsung Mobile has a large brand following and it is an honor to be associated with them for the upcoming NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races."
As part of the sponsorship, Samsung Mobile will be running a promotion The North Carolina Lottery 200 (134 laps, 201 mile) NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is slated to begin at 8:00pm ET at the 1.5-mile Lowe's Motor Speedway, Friday, May 15, 2009.
