RON HORNADAY, JR., NO. 33 VFW SILVERADO, STARTED 2ND, FINISHED 2nd:
"Hats off to KHI (Kevin Harvick, Inc.) This is what it is all about and that is what that truck is supposed to be running like. I just missed the corner off of two. The VFW Chevrolet was awesome. To lead that many laps, that is what Kevin and DeLana (Harvick) are all about. I have to thank Rick Ren (crew chief) and all the guys, Camping World and VFW. This is for all the folks out there in Iraq, all of our military. It was a good day, we led a lot of laps. We gained a little bit on Johnny (Benson) in the points, I don't know what that yellow was for, I was about to put Johnny down a lap. We will take it down and go on.
"I am just proud of my whole team. Kyle Busch has won this thing the last three times, to out run him today is cool. He was that dominate, he was running different lines. Then Ryan (Newman) comes in here and steals my thunder, darn it, (LAUGHS) in the last couple of laps. That just shows how close these trucks are. Ryan was running up top and I was running the bottom and I missed it. The next three (races) I am looking forward to; I didn't think I could slip and slide that much here. I learned a lot watching Busch here last year. I have to thank Kevin and DeLana again, this is awesome.
"I don't know if I can say it, but second stinks. We ran good all day. That just shows what KHI has got. Ryan ran the top and I ran the bottom. He started following me down there in three (3) and four (4) and he figured it out.
"I just missed the corner coming off of two (2), when you miss it it is 3/10th to a half of second. He ran me down there and the draft pulled me around and got me sideways going in to three, he got the momentum. Made a charge coming back off the corner and again, missed the corner. Got all the way through there and just rode up alongside of him, if I had tried to turn I would have wrecked both of us. A good race for the VFW and Camping World moved aside for this weekend so it meant a lot.
WERE YOU WONDERING IF RYAN WOULD LET YOU KEEP THE EXTRA POINTS BECAUSE YOU ARE IN A TOUGH CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE AND HOW FRUSTRATING WAS IT WHEN THAT CAUTION CAME OUT WHEN YOU WERE ABOUT TO PUT BENSON A LAP DOWN?
"I am sure if it was Kevin, he would have done that but we are going to race hard like that and that is what we are supposed to do. We race clean and raced hard and that No. 2 truck needs a win. That thing needs a sponsor and it shows that truck is capable of winning. That truck didn't beat me, I beat myself. I missed the corner and he got a good run. You can only mess up once and I did it three times in the race. That was it. It hurt us 10 points but we led the most laps so we got 10 there. They aren't going to move over for me, that is for sure. That is what this truck series is all about.
"I am still looking for that debris when that caution came out. (LAUGHS). I saw Johnny a straightaway up there and I pushed my truck as hard as I could. I took a chance on blowing my tires and doing what I had to do to make sure I put him a lap down. We didn't have that many trucks down a lap right there and he was running 16th or 17th at the time. It would have hurt him but they put two tires on and that was what bit them a Vegas and it almost bit them again today. Darn, it didn't work out to our advantage and it didn't work out with the fuel mileage last week. We are going to keep doing what we have to do and hopefully Ryan don't run too many of out truck races cause he took 10 points away (LAUGHS) but other than that. I think he is going to run another race, we have three left we are looking forward to it."
