"Rookie Looks For Veteran Edge at Speed Plant"
March 9, 2004 (Mt. Juliet, Tennessee) -- NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie Chase Montgomery rumbles into the Atlanta Motor Speedway with some big support this weekend for the running of the EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200. Chase and his #8 BHR2 DODGE will be joined by Big Daddy's Cycle World for the second event of the season for the series. Based in the Atlanta area, Big Daddy's is an authorized Harley Davidson connection as well as specializing in custom bikes.
"We are an unsponsored team at this point and it is always nice to have help from people such as Big Daddy's," said Montgomery. "This BHR2 team feels that we have a lot to offer sponsors and we are going to show this to Big Daddy's this week."
While this is the inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at the Atlanta track, this will be the 4th start for Chase at the 1.54 mile quad oval with competition in 3 ARCA Re/Max Series and 1 NASCAR Busch Series events. Although he has had limited success in those previous 4 events, he looks to use this valuable track time to his advantage.
"I really like this track but for some reason I always seem to have bad luck with mechanical failures," stated Chase. "But I am sure that this track time will help me in adjusting quickly and hopefully this will become a little advantage for us. The guys have worked really hard since Daytona to give me a great truck and I look for my fortunes to change at this track."
Montgomery is coming off an impressive season opening performance at Daytona where he qualified on the outside of the front row and was running in the top 10 before a major mid-race accident ended his day. The result was a disappointing 31st place finish for the Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate.
In addition to Big Daddy's Cycle World, the #8 DODGE of Chase Montgomery will feature the decals of the Atlanta Sheraton Suites Galleria and season long associate sponsor Gladiator Garageworks.
Chase will begin his race week on Thursday by participating in the Atlanta Rally for Racing. The 2nd Annual Atlanta Motor Speedway Day will be held at the Georgia State Capitol with Governor Sonny Perdue and many other public figures.
The EasyCare Vehicles Service Contracts 200 will air LIVE on the SPEED Channel at 1:00 p.m. EST on Saturday.
