GAFFNEY, S.C. (August 16, 2011) – Mike Wallace and the No. 01 JD Motorsports Chevrolet team are heading to the road course of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal with one purpose on their collective minds – make up some unfortunate points they’ve lost the last few races. And, knowing what they learned at Road America earlier this year for a top-five finish, and what they overcame at Watkins Glen last weekend for another top-20 finish, they are confident in achieving their goal.

A pit road penalty for the gas can leaving the pit box was easily overcome. Even though Wallace lost some positions, he was able to remain on the lead lap. But, since it put him farther back in the pack, he wasn’t able to stay on that lead lap for very long. After cracking his way into the top-20, he spun on his own just seven laps shy of the finish. He only lost two spots and fought his way back to a top-20 finish. But, those lost points have kept him 13th in the Driver’s Standings and from gaining on the two positions ahead of him in 11th and 12th places.

Mike Wallace Quotes:

“Yeah, the last few weeks have been frustrating because we’ve given up some points we really didn’t need to be tossing away. But, and I mean this, the one thing I truly like about this JD Motorsports team is we are always able to rally back.”

“We might be an independent team without the great resources, but we have good equipment to get the job done. Yes, we are looking for some sponsorship and marketing partners for the rest of the year. So, we have to go out each week and work twice as hard to prove our value.”

“Watkins Glen didn’t go the way we wanted, but it didn’t go horrible, either. Based off our finish at Road America, we know we have what it takes to get the job done to be successful. Now, we just need to back that up with a good run in Montreal.”

“It’s a great track located in a beautiful city. The people there really appreciate us coming up there to race, and I enjoy putting on a good race for them.”
