Casey Roderick, Randy Hill Racing Looking For Courageous Effort At Charlotte
CONCORD, North Carolina (October 11, 2011) - - After making an appearance on the road course of Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International and the one-mile oval of Dover (Del.) International Speedway, NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) rookie driver Casey Roderick and his Randy Hill Racing (RHR) team will take another leap in their racing efforts by attempting to compete at an intermediate track for the running of Friday night’s Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway.
Located in the backyard of Charlotte, North Carolina, CMS will be the first of two planned speedway races for the new formed RHR team owned by Texas entrepreneur Randy Hill. After a combination effort at WGI with Go Green Racing (GGR) and Jay Robinson Racing (JRR) at Dover, RHR is primed to shine in their own spotlight in their No. 08 Randy Hill Racing Ford Mustang.
“I’m super pumped about Friday night,” said Roderick, a winner in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. “Charlotte is an extremely fast track and carries a lot of excitement, but that’s something I love. The biggest thing is to get our No. 08 Randy Hill Racing Ford Mustang handling good so we can have a strong starting spot and an even better finish.”
Knowing that he’ll have to make the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage on-time as the team is not guaranteed a starting berth, Roderick isn’t afraid of the potential obstacle knowing that he’s in good hands when it comes to crew chief Jeff Spraker.
“Jeff is a guy that never sleeps,” Roderick explained. “If you’re looking for a true definition of a racer, Jeff fits that to a tee. He wants to go to Charlotte this week and run well and there isn’t a question in my mind with his knowledge and the support of RoushYates Engines that we can get our goals accomplished on Friday night.”
When asked what those goals are for Friday, the Lawrenceville, Georgia replied by saying, “We want to finish the race of course. I would like to think we’ll have a good enough car to finish inside the top-15, but we’ll take a top-20 for sure. For me, it’s about earning the respect of my competitors while also continuing to learn about these race cars and putting Randy Hill Racing in the limelight as much as we can. This all would not be possible without him.”
For Hill, he’s amped for racing under the lights and seeing his new team in action.
“I’m blessed to be associated with a lot of great people and a talented driver,” said Hill, a native of Baird, Texas. “We’re excited about going to Charlotte for a lot of reasons. But, we’re also enthused, because we genuinely feel like we can go out there and spark some attention and give everyone a preview of what will be to come with Randy Hill Racing.”
For crew chief and Motorsports veteran Jeff Spraker, he is eager to see the success of Randy Hill Racing blossom on the track.
“We’ve been working hard on our No. 08 Randy Hill Racing Ford Mustang,” offered Spraker, a former driver in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. “Casey is an incredibly talented driver and Randy is a successful businessman who has come into NASCAR with a plan and to make a name for himself. He’s given us the equipment and assets to do that. If we can stay out of trouble, we should be in good position to have a good night.”
Instead of sporting their normal purple paint scheme for Friday night’s anticipated rumble, the team has decked out their blue oval in pink to show their support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
“It was a joint decision between us all to change the paint scheme for this weekend,” said Hill. “This weekend is about remembering those who have lost their life to this horrible disease, those who are currently battling it and encouraging everyone to see their doctor and be tested to try and avoid becoming a victim of this type of cancer.”
From Charlotte, the Randy Hill Racing team plans to field an entry for Roderick at Texas Motor Speedway, the site of RHR’s home track and potentially the season finale at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway in November for the Ford 300.
