Logano top Toyota driver in Kansas 300

Camry driver Joey Logano drove his Joe Gibbs Racing No. 28 GameStop Toyota Camry to a third-place finish Saturday afternoon at Kansas Speedway.

Camry driver Kyle Busch was leading the field late in the race when he ran out of fuel on the final lap and finished sixth. He led the field twice for 29 laps (of 206).

How was today's race? "It was a wild one for sure. Just too tight. Too tight in the beginning and just going backwards and got fenced. Went down two laps, fixed it, got back on the lead lap and just fought hard. My guys did a great job trying to fix this thing and getting us the best finish possible. It's owner's points here with the 18 car, so trying to get the GameStop Toyota to finish third -- that's good. Not very happy on the way we did it, but we'll take it."

What happened with Ricky Stenhouse? "I just got put in the fence. What are you going to do? That's a racing thing. It's just a little early in the race for fencing each other and I know he's behind me trying to clean his grill off, so I didn't know what he's trying to do and then he got underneath me and started running me up the race track and then we ran out of real estate and he just 'smushed' us in the fence. To come back and finish third after that -- I'm proud of my guys. I'm proud of what happened. Not the way to do it, but for a car that's really beat up that could barely stay on the leap lap -- to come home third, we'll take that."

Will you talk to Ricky Stenhouse about the incident? "Nothing really to talk about -- just got fenced. I think he just got tight underneath me and started running me up the track and then I ran out of room and I started to lift because I knew I was going to hit the wall because he ran me up so high. I think he just couldn't turn and when you get in that pocket -- right here around the car there's a pocket of air and you really can't turn when you're there and I think he was right there. I mean I know it's a racing thing. It's unfortunate. I wish he could have gave me a little bit more room, but I guess that's the way he's going to race, so we'll look for that in the future."

Why did you bump Ricky Stenhouse after the race? "Yeah, that's all there is to talk about. That was just like a, 'Hey, good job.'"

What did you learn in today's race? "Look out if Ricky's (Stenhouse) on the inside. I learned some things -- some lines and stuff like that. It's definitely when you come to a new race track, to move around and see where the lanes are going to be and what's going to happen tomorrow. I ran the second lane the whole time, because I couldn't ever turn on the bottom. The car was just not very good today."

KYLE BUSCH, No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry, Kyle Busch Motorsports Finishing Position: 6th

How close was it on fuel? "Ran out in the middle of (turns) three and four. But, that's our year man. Nothing else to it than that, you know. I just can't say enough about all our guys, everybody at Monster Energy and Toyota -- they do a great job for us. We're supposed to repay them by winning races and we haven't done that this year. What a frustrating defeat. Oh well, you get defeated sometimes."

Did you learn anything today that may help you in tomorrow's race? "We'll see. It's definitely still really, really treacherous. You can be on the outside of a guy and a guy can try to pass you on the inside, and you can hold him tight and about wreck him. It's just a one lane race track. It will take a couple of years to spread out. We'll see how tomorrow unfolds. It's going to be somewhat of the same day. I don't know. We'll see."

KENNY WALLACE, No. 99 American Ethanol Toyota Camry, RAB Racing w/Brack Maggard Finishing Position: 18th

How was your race today? "It was a good day for us. We ran strong, ran top-five most of the day. It was just fuel mileage and it was track position back and forth all day. Proud of my team -- they did great. Just everybody was under the same circumstance there -- us, Kyle Busch, 33 (Paul Menard) -- we just all ran out of gas trying to get the best finish we could. We were dead in the water. We tried -- just came up a little bit empty."

HAL MARTIN, No. 44 American Custom Yachts/Crowne Plaza Toyota Camry, TriStar Motorsports Finishing Position: 25th

How was your first Nationwide Series race? "It's obviously not where we wanted to finish the day. When we came back out after the brake failure, we had a pretty good American Custom Yachts Toyota once we got tweaking on it. We just had that brake issue that set us back, but when we came back out we were pretty quick. We were just racing hard at the end, trying to learn all I could out there. When I got underneath the No. 8 (Scott Lagasse Jr.), we got pinched down and lost the air off the right side and spun out."
