MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 6, 2012) - This week Kyle Busch Motorsports and their Nevada-bred owner-driver will bring a new No. 54 Monster Energy race car chassis to Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS). Kyle Busch has had success at the track he calls his "hometown." Not only does Busch hold the record for the number of fastest laps (127) at LVMS in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, but he also ranks second in laps led (228) over the last seven years the Nationwide Series has raced at the 1.5-mile facility.

The 2011 Sam's Town 300 proved difficult for Busch, after starting the race from the 2nd position and leading the most event laps (84), the Las Vegas native ended up in an on-track accident that relegated the JGR team to a 30th-place finish.

Although in eight NNS starts Busch has not won at LVMS, expectations are higher this year for the startup team and veteran driver. Nothing would be greater than for Busch and his young Nationwide Series effort to bring home a victory for new sponsor partner Monster Energy, at the driver's home track, in only his third start with the self-owned team.

Kyle Busch, Driver of the No. 54 NASCAR Nationwide Series Monster Energy Camry: Do you prepare differently going into a race weekend at a track that you grew up around?

"Not really. It's like any other race weekend in terms of preparation with the team. Cool thing here is that I know the city and I still have friends in the area, so it's nice to give them the opportunity to come out and see us race. "

You were disappointed last week with the PIR finish but talked afterwards about the learning curve of the new race team. What do you expect this week?

"I've put a good group of people in place around me there, starting with Mike (Beam). Everyone is competitive and wants us to succeed, from the decal installer to sponsor management. We have to set the car up right early in the weekend, so we aren't trying to make big swings during the race. Once we get into a rhythm of knowing each other better and communicating those changes, I know we'll be good. It would be sweet to bring home that trophy in front of this home crowd and for my guys and sponsors!"

Heard you spent some time in the desert this week, how was that?

"I try to get out to Glamis (Calif.) once a year and kick the dunes around a bit. A group of guys go out and get the sand rail ready for me. It's a good way to kick back, relax and have some fun."

Mike Beam, Crew Chief of the No. 54 NASCAR Nationwide Series Monster Energy Camry: Last week was a learning curve for you and the team with Kyle, how will this week be different in terms of your goals for racing at Kyle's hometown track?

"Every week we'll learn something that will make us better as a team. Remember everything is being built from the ground up here, so it's going to take time. I don't really set goals other than to win--for me it's win or nothing, and I think that's a common theme among our group. I look forward to going to Las Vegas with Kyle, considering his feelings for the home track. We are working to make our cars better and this week with a new car chassis and body out of the KBM shop, we are going to do our very best to run well and win."

Kyle Busch's No. 54 Monster Energy Camry: Chassis KBM-003: KBM will unload the first NNS intermediate-track chassis built by the company in 2012, for Saturday's Sam's Town 300. The backup machine for this weekend's No. 54 team is one that will regularly be used as a second team car, Chassis, KBM-007.
