Defending race winner Sadler ahead of Chicagoland 300

Sadler holds onto the fifth position in the Nationwide Series driver championship point standings, 24 points behind the leader with 15 races remaining in the 2013 season.

Elliott Sadler and the No. 11 OneMain Financial team head to the Midwest this weekend to compete in the STP 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. Looking to defend his race win from 2012, Sadler comes to the 1.5-mile track with seven NASCAR Nationwide Series starts, including his 2012 win and three top-10 finishes with 70 laps led.

In the July 2012 event at Chicagoland Speedway, Sadler battled a brutal stomach flu as he got behind the wheel for the STP 300. Competing against the heat, the sickness and the field, Sadler was able to hold everyone off to come home with his third victory of the season, as well as the $100,000 Nationwide Insurance Dash 4 Cash bonus.

Last week at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Sadler and the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing team competed toward the front of the field for much of the event. Running in the top-five coming to the final laps of the race, the caution flag waved to bring out the first attempt of a green-white-checkered finish.

As most teams struggled to conserve fuel, the field was slowed again for a second attempt at a GWC finish. The race restarted, and Sadler moved into the third position as the caution flag waved again. Coming to the final attempt at a GWC finish, Sadler was spun on the final lap to finish in the 18th position.

The OneMain Financial driver will sport pink Oakley driving shoes throughout the entire Nationwide Series season to show support for breast cancer awareness and honor his mom, Bell. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, and is now a survivor. This season, he will also wear special pink Oakley driving gloves. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on his race-worn shoes throughout the season, with proceeds going toward breast cancer research and education.

Elliott Sadler: "The races at Chicagoland Speedway are always some of my favorites. We are the defending race winner from this race last season, and this No. 11 OneMain Financial team is more than ready to get to Victory Lane. We had a rough weekend last week at New Hampshire. We ran so well, and then had that incident at the end of the race, so this week we are definitely looking to get our first win. We have a strong mile-and-a-half program, and we are looking to get our momentum back on track this weekend. The fans are always great at Chicagoland, and it's a cool weekend to be able to showcase the Nationwide Series on a Sunday."
