Martin Truex Jr. to meet Tampa Bay media Tuesday and Wednesday
* NASCAR Busch Series Top 10 join Truex in Orlando on Thursday
DAYTONA BEACH (Dec. 6, 2004) -- Life has been non-stop for Martin Truex Jr. (No. 8 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet), since he clinched the 2004 NASCAR Busch Series championship at Darlington last month.
His reign officially begins Tuesday with NASCAR Busch Series Champion's Week activities in both Tampa Bay and Orlando, culminating with the series Awards Ceremony Friday night in the Tuscan Ballroom at the Portofino Bay Hotel.
Although the Thanksgiving holiday provided a break, Truex was still busy, spending Thanksgiving with his family in Palm Beach, Fla. In between, he shopped for new suits and tuxedos for an appearance in New York last Friday. Truex was among the group of NASCAR's 2004 champions for a photo shoot at one of Manhattan's most scenic landmarks, the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum at Pier 86. The group included NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series champion Kurt Busch, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Bobby Hamilton and NASCAR's weekly and touring champions.
Now, it's Truex's time. He's scheduled to appear on a popular Tampa Bay-area weeknight sports program Tuesday night, and Wednesday morning he's scheduled for a live television morning show. From there, he'll chat with local radio shows before meeting the media at the third annual NASCAR Busch Series Champion's Luncheon at the Tampa Westshore Marriott.
On Thursday, Truex and members of the NASCAR Busch Series Top 10 are scheduled for media appearances throughout Orlando, including three live television slots and numerous radio station visits.
Thursday afternoon, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET, Truex and other Top 10 drivers will arrive at the Richard Petty Driving Experience where Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will proclaim "NASCAR Busch Series Champion's Week" in the city. Mayor Dyer will be a passenger in a specially-schemed NASCAR Busch Series Champion Chevrolet driven by Truex. Other Top 10 drivers will take media on "hot laps" around the track. That night, Truex will attend the Champion's Dinner with NASCAR and Anheuser-Busch executives while Top 10 drivers and their families will venture to Sea World for a party sponsored by Anheuser-Busch.
Truex, 24, is celebrating his first NASCAR Busch Series title, as are Chance 2 Motorsports co-owners Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Teresa Earnhardt, who won the 2004 NASCAR Busch Series Owner Championship.
