Tim Sauter on the "Big One"

"I almost got through it. I don't know who hit me. Scott went up into Johnny and Johnny just flipped right over. I was just trying to thread the needle and make it through by riding right behind Sprague. I don't know if he made it through. Last thing I saw was the 44 car, he drove right into the whole mess."

On the damage to his No. 19 Chevrolet...

"If I had oil pressure I would have brought her back. Our heat exchanger was busted, so my oil pressure went down and I didn't get the car shut off quick enough. We brought it in and replaced the radiator, but when we went back out we lost oil pressure again. So we finally had to park it. We must have had another line that had a break in it. The engine got hot and just let go. It really hurts because the guys did an incredible job preparing this car and then fixing it."

On the performance of the AP Team

"They did a great job fixing the car after the wreck. But really they were good all weekend. We thrashed together a car that qualified well and was good in the race. WESCO did a great job hanging the bodies. We just got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time."

On his third Superspeedway experience

"I just sat in line and tried to be patient. But there is nothing you can do here, just wait for the big wreck to happen. The last three restrictor plate races I have been to I wrecked in every one."

On restrictor plate racing

"You're in the hands of 43 other guys and if one guy makes a mistake all of you go down. This is one of three restrictor plate races we go to every year and you just have to be prepared for a DNF. They are the most expensive for a team, especially an unsponsored one like ours. The testing is expensive, the preparation is expensive and then it can so easily be taken away from you. I don't know what the right thing to do about restrictor plate racing. We just lost $20,000 dollars on this car and it's like that every time we have to come here. I don't think they can take the plate off. If they do that we will be running around here at 220 miles per hour, then look out. I don't have the answer to what we should do. I just like short tracks."

On his new Superspeedway philosophy

"Oh, I got a whole new philosophy now. Next Superspeedway race I go to I am just going to start in the rear. I will just stay back about 1/2 lap until 10 to go and then move up. That's what Tony Stewart and Bobby Labonte did last year, of course they still ended up wrecking with two laps to go. Still, its better than wrecking just 10 laps in. Pick your pain."
