Steve Bird, a four-time NASCAR Busch Series championship-winning crew chief, has joined Jay Fogleman and JFco Motorsports as Performance/Operations Manager for the Lucas Oil Products Ford No. 4 during the 2004 season.

"With the addition of Steve, Joe Burke as crew chief and Mike Glenn as car chief, this should lighten the load and be a tremendous help with the day-to-day management of our racing operation," Fogleman said.

Bird assumes his duties immediately, in time to prepare for the next South Division ProCup event on April 3 at Peach State Speedway in Jefferson, Ga.

Besides his full South Division schedule, Fogleman intends to compete in two North Division events. A busy schedule, especially considering that he has been occupied with starting a new business.

"With the demands of the series, the new radial tires -- Joe (Burke) and I have really been swamped trying to get a handle on them - and the start-up of my new company," Fogleman said, "my time away from the shop has been hard on the team."

But Fogleman pointed out that the support of Lucas Oil, Mac Tools, Autometer, The Brakeman, and Crane Cams and Ignitions have helped JFco Motorsports maintain an unsurpassed level of professionalism. Three new Tauruses with Upchurch Engineering power currently fill the JFco stable, and Fogleman looks forward to a new chapter in his racing career.

"Our team is in great shape and getting better all the time," Fogleman declared. "This should be an incredible year."
