Former Busch Car Chief, Rear Tire Carrier for Mark Martin to Crew Chief the No. 50 Roush Busch Series Entry
CONCORD, N.C. (February 7, 2006)- Drew Blickensderfer, who has spent the last three years at Roush Racing as a rear-tire changer and car chief with Mark Martin, will be crew chief on the No. 50 World Financial Group/Stonebridge Life Insurance Company Ford Fusion for Roush Racing. He will lead Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate Danny O'Quinn, Jr., and team in a full-time Busch Series ride.
Blickensderfer has worked on Martin's No. 6 Cup Ford as a rear-tire changer for the whole of his time at Roush Racing. He also worked on car set-up in the shop during the week, looking forward to the opportunity to become a crew chief.
After just one year's time at Roush, Blickensderfer was promoted to car chief on Martin's No. 9 Pennzoil Platinum NASCAR Busch Series entry.
He has spent the last two years as car chief on Martin's No. 9, while continuing to change rear tires in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series on the No. 6 NEXTEL Cup Ford.
This year he achieves his goal of becoming a crew chief with his promotion to work with Coeburn, V.a., native O'Quinn, Jr., in the No. 50 World Financial Group/Stonebridge Life Insurance Ford Fusion.
Blickensderfer brings a wealth of knowledge to the No. 50 team from his experience working with legendary racer Mark Martin in both the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Busch series in years past. He brings with him a total of nine years' racing experience, as in the past he has worked with Dale Earnhardt Inc., and Bill Davis Racing, before becoming a Roush Racing employee.
