KEN SCHRADER 1998 NASCAR BUSCH SERIES POST-SEASON RECAP
MAY 23, 1998 - Oakwood Homes signs on as primary sponsor of the No. 15 Andy Petree Racing Chevrolet driven by Ken Schrader on the NASCAR Busch Series. Schrader first developed his relationship with Oakwood Homes in 1986. In exchange for a single-wide home, Schrader did some appearances for Oakwood Homes and a strong working relationship and friendship was born. This primary sponsorship included 11 NASCAR Busch Series races in 1998.
JUNE 5, 1998 - The No. 15 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet made its debut at Richmond International Raceway. Schrader started the race from the fourth position and was running in the top-10 before an accident took him out.
JULY 31, 1998 - The No. 15 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet accumulates its first top-10 finish with NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular Mike Wallace at the wheel. Wallace finished the "Kroger 200" in the ninth position.
SEPTEMBER 5, 1998 - The No. 15 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet got its first top-10 finish with Ken Schrader driving. Schrader finished 10th at Darlington Raceway in the "Dura Lube 200." Schrader had one other 10th-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the "Stihl 300."
NOVEMBER 11, 1998 - Oakwood Homes announces that they will return as the primary sponsor on the No. 15 Chevrolet for 14 NASCAR Busch Series races and one Winston West race in 1999.
NOVEMBER 15, 1998 - After 11 NASCAR Busch Series starts in 1998, the No. 15 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet accumulated three top-10 finishes, completed 79% of laps run and earned a total of $74,220.
NOVEMBER 20, 1998 - "We felt like we accomplished what we set out to accomplish this year," said Schrader. "We learned a lot that we can incorporate into our two-team operation for the Winston Cup program next year. I have strengthened my relationship with Oakwood Homes and am thrilled that they have renewed their sponsorship with us. We look forward to a great year in 1999."
