JASON KELLER-57-Albertsons Ford Taurus (Qualified 9th)
"It was a real good lap for us. It wasn't a perfect lap, but it's hard to tell what a perfect here is going to be. Hopefully it holds up and gives us a good starting spot."
HOW GOOD OF A CAR DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE FOR THE RACE? "Actually, we practiced our race setup a little bit more than our qualifying setup, so if we qualify close to the front, we can work on our race setup a little bit tomorrow, and I think we'll be good for the race."
RATE YOUR SEASON. "We've made a lot of gains, but we fell short a little bit in some areas. Good teams critique themselves and make themselves better, and that's what we plan on doing."
WITH THE POINTS RACE BEING SETTLED LAST WEEK, ARE YOU FEELING LESS PRESSURE THIS WEEKEND? "Yeah it's off a little bit, but I was hoping that it would be on. I had visions of coming to Homestead and being pressured a lot, but that's the way it works. Really, I don't feel any different coming to Homestead because we really, really want to end the year on a high note. Yeah, the pressure is off for the big picture, but this is our last shot for two months, so we really want to win this one. It's a little bit more do or die here for us because I don't want to end the year on a bad note and have two months to think about it. I know I did last year when I ended on a bad note; it drove me crazy."
GREG BIFFLE-60-Grainger Ford Taurus (Qualified 18th)
"The car wouldn't turn down in turns 1 and 2. I'm not sure what happened; it's like someone turned a light switch off. It just didn't turn down there at all. It'll probably put us 15th or so, maybe 12th, with that time. I think we're fair in race trim, so we'll see what happens."
YOU WERE THE SECOND FASTEST CAR IN PRACTICE. HAVE THE TRACK CONDITIONS CHANGED OR DID YOU CHANGE THE SETUP TRYING FOR THE POLE? "It just didn't turn down there in 1 and 2. Maybe the track sitting with a lot of sun on it, the trucks qualifying and practicing on it; I don't know exactly what changed it, but it just didn't turn down there a bit."
WITH THE POINTS RACE BEING OVER THIS WEEKEND, HOW MUCH EASIER IS IT TO FOCUS ON WINNING THE RACE AND NOT WORRYING ABOUT WHERE JASON KELLER IS RUNNING? "That's going to be nice, certainly with Jason Keller sitting on the pole right now. I'm glad it doesn't come down to the last race. It's going to be nice to be out there and just run for the win."
BOBBY HAMILTON, JR.-25-Team Marines Ford Taurus (Qualified 3rd)
"It's a real good lap for the Marines Ford. That's the quickest that we've been here since we've been here. We came down here and tested and didn't run that fast, but with his cloud and everything, it won't even get the pole; there will be somebody quicker. We'll just try to get a top-five in this thing and try to Saturday."
IS THIS A BETTER CAR IN RACE TRIM? "I think so."
KASEY KAHNE-98-Channellock Ford Taurus (Qualified 11th)
"This is really the first time that I've been to a track like this. I like it so far. You coast for a long ways and you need your car to work pretty good while it's coasting. I think qualifying up front will definitely be benefit here rather than in the high 20s."
WHAT ARE YOU HOPING TO ACHIEVE IN THE FINAL RACE OF THE SEASON? "I'm just looking for the same thing that I've been looking for all year, a really good finish. I'd like to get a top-five if I could, but they've been hard to come by for us. These guys have worked real hard on the car, but I don't know, we just haven't' gotten what we need on the year. It's kinda disappointing but I think we have a good shot at a top-five or top-10 this weekend."
MARK GREEN-38-Great Clips Ford Taurus (Qualified 16th)
"The cloud cover helped us like it did a lot of people. The car was really good. It's just a little free and it's been free all day. We thought we tightened it up enough before qualifying, and we did help it, but it's still just a little bit too free to really get after it. That's a good start."
TALK ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BODY, CHASSIS AND MOTOR AT THIS TRACK. "It's body and motor down the straightaway and then your chassis works through the corner, and then when you get back on the straightaway you've got to have that good body and motor again. This place to me is as important as Daytona is to a body because you have to get down out of the air, but, of course, you've got to get through it, too."
