"I really like racing at Homestead. We had a pretty good car last year and had a shot at winning. Unfortunately, we pushed the envelope a little too far and came up one lap short. With this weekend being the last race of the year everyone wants to do well. We look forward to running up front and having a good race."

Despite reverting to a backup car in the 1998 Jiffy Lube 300 after an accident during practice, Jones and the No.00 team proved that they have what it takes to conquer Homestead-Miami Speedway. Jones battled with a tight race car from a provisional starting position to take the lead on lap 84. Although he relinquished the lead after holding the spot for 15 laps, Jones remained a contender until the final lap of the race. While running seventh, the No.00 Pontiac ran out of gas forcing the Buckshot Racing team to settle for a 16th- place finish.
Throughout 106 races in five years of NASCAR Busch Series competition, Jones has started and finished in every possible position...almost. Despite two poles and two victories to his credit, Jones has never finished in the runner-up spot. On the other hand, Jones has never started or finished 43rd in his Busch Series career. His most frequent starting position has been 11th (6 times) and he has finished more races in the 10th spot (6 times) than any other position.
The Buckshot Racing team will field the same Pontiac that Jones piloted at Phoenix International Speedway last weekend. In the Outback Steakhouse 200, the No.00 team recorded their third top 10 of the season with a 10th-place finish.
