Schrader's Thoughts On The Winston Open...
"We're not going there this weekend to be part of the pre-race festivities, and that's really what the Winston Open is. We're going there with the goal of making it into the Winston. The "M&M's"® Racing Team has had a tough year. After Richmond, everybody was asking if I thought things were coming together, but I've never been worried about things coming together. We've run well for the majority of the season, but we've had some unusual things happen to us. We just haven't been able to finish what we've started. We'd like to change that this weekend."
"M&M's"® Racing At Lowe's Motor Speedway - The Winston Open...
* Although Schrader will have to race his way into the Winston on Saturday night, his chances at the big money are still pretty good. In seven starts in The Winston, Schrader has posted six top fives, including two third-place and three second-place finishes.
* The "M&M's"®/PEDIGREE® Racing Team will take a brand new car to Lowe's Motor Speedway for the Winston Open. It is one of seven new cars in the MB2 stables this season.
"We're going to use the Winston as a test," said "M&M's"® crew chief Newt Moore. "We're going to learn what we can and see if this car does what we think it can. If it runs well, we're planning on running it in the 600, and hopefully the information we get will help us out there, too."
* Schrader's ideas of rest and relaxation during his weekend off meant a whirlwind tour of dirt tracks in the Midwest. Schrader was scheduled to make five stops in six days during his off-weekend - Malden (Mo.) Speedway; I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo.; Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind.; Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway; and Paducah (Ky.) International Raceway.
Following The Winston, Schrader will make another side trip. He plans to race at DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds on Sunday and at Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, S.D., on Monday.
* "M&M's"® fans around the globe can still vote for their favorite color - pink, purple or aqua - on www.mms.com. The winning color will be the color car Schrader will drive at Bristol in August. The last day to cast your vote in THE GLOBAL COLOR VOTE(tm) will be May 31st.
