CHARLOTTE - WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7, 2000 - Wheaties on Tuesday will unveil a series of limited-edition packages commemorating the careers of four stock car racing legends: Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, Ned Jarrett and Benny Parsons. Wheaties also will unveil the No. 43 Wheaties/STP Pontiac that John Andretti will race in The Winston Select on May 20 at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte.

Wheaties forged a relationship with NASCAR in 1997 when Dale Earnhardt was featured on the Wheaties package and drove the Wheaties-sponsored No. 3 Chevrolet in The Winston Select. NASCAR's "King," Richard Petty, was featured on the Wheaties box in 1998 and this May, the No. 43 that Petty made famous will carry the Wheaties logo in the The Winston Select. General Mills, parent company of Wheaties, currently has an associate sponsorship with Petty's No. 43 Pontiac and will be taking over primary sponsorship of the team with its Cheerios and Betty Crocker brands beginning at Daytona this July.

Each NASCAR legend to be honored by Wheaties dominated the sport. Richard Petty won 200 races and seven NASCAR Championships, Cale Yarborough won 83 races and three NASCAR Championships, Ned Jarrett won 50 races and two NASCAR Championships, and Benny Parsons won 21 races and was the 1973 NASCAR Winston Cup Champion.
