Geoff Bodine fined In the aftermath of a flurry of negative comments and curse words, Geoff Bodine recieved a fine of $10,000. NASCAR classified the rule violation as "actions that are detrimental to NASCAR". The paint-swapping twice led to the two drivers wrecking and caution flags being brought out. The final incident, on lap 432, took Bodine out of the race and also collected Steve Grissom, who was enjoying a top-10 run and was not involved in any of the on-track incidents. Bodine was forced by NASCAR to park his car after the incident. He is expected to run in Martinsville.
Multi-Car team considered by some Rusty Wallace announced consideration of putting another car with the Penske team for next year. The move, Wallace said, would be for the purpose of helping the primary car and to take advantage of more test dates. Also considering the move to a multi-car team is Morgan McClure who is said to be close to putting together a sponsorship deal. No word on when the second team could be ready. The talk about multi-car teams is said to have multiple advantages to the team outside of test dates. The research and development is so easily passed to the second and/or third car that it allows the secondary cars to make money with there sponsorship while the sponsorship on the primary car foots the research and development for the team.
Steve Grissoms condition In the Bodine altercation mentioned earlier Steve Grissom suffered a stress fracture in his ankle. He is expected to attempt to run at Martinsville.
Miss Bristols Condition Amanda Ashley Whited, who was in involved in a car accident late Tuesday night of last week, is still listed in critical condition in the ICU of Bristol Regional Medical Center. Hospital spokemen were unable to give a long term prognosis at this time.
Robby Gordons frustration As reported yesterday by NASCAR Fans, Robby Gordon was upset with the performance of the team at Bristol, so much so that when the car was ready to go and make up some laps after his wreck that he declined to get back in the car. Word is that after the incident we was ready to leave.
