Notes: Because cars turn both right and left on road courses, teams run the same tire (D-5704) on both sides of the car . . . Goodyear started bringing this particular tire to both NASCAR Winston Cup Series road course races during the 2000 season . . . that makes this the eighth consecutive road course race Winston Cup teams will have used this tire set-up, the fourth straight at Watkins Glen . . . this tire is also used on the right-side at Martinsville (Winston Cup and Craftsman Truck Series) and South Boston (Craftsman Truck Series only) . . . teams do not run inner liners at Watkins Glen, or any other NASCAR road course.

Goodyear Quote - Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Tire Development: "On road courses, NASCAR teams use the same tire on both the left and right sides. This particular tire is the right-side from Goodyear's short track group, used by Cup teams at Martinsville. Because it is from our short track set-up, this code is the softest right-side tire we run, giving the cars plenty of grip. That will help drivers handle around the 11 difficult turns Watkins Glen has to offer."
