Ward Burton took his second win of 2002 at the New Hampshire International Speedway. Burton and crew chief Tommy Baldwin Jr. made a decision due to earlier cautions not to pit after lap 200. This gave Burton the opportunity to take the Bill Davis Racing Caterpillar Dodge to the checker flags for their second win of the season.

With nine laps to go, Burton passed the slowing Matt Kenseth's Ford Taurus. Kenseth had a tire going down. Challenges in the last laps came from Jeff Green, Dale Jarrett and Rusty Wallace. Burton held them off for his first win since the Daytona 500 in February.

Green brought the Chevy home in second with three Ford's behind him: Jarrett, Wallace and Rookie Ryan Newman.

"Since Daytona we have been a mess really, but we did not give up," said Burton in Victory Circle. "We knew we could not pass the no. 17 [Matt Kenseth] unless he had a problem, we race each other clean. What a team!"
