Jeff Gordon has crossed Rusty Wallace off his Christmas card list. Wallace told the Roanoke Times last weekend that he felt like Gordon had lost some of his focus, stating that Gordon was now distracted with vacations and parties.

Gordon says that's rubbish.

"I like vacation," said Gordon. "I take vacation when I can. I feel like I'm more focused when I do because I work so hard when we're not vacationing. I woild not be ashamed to say that I'm probably one of the hardest working guys in this garage area. Maybe it's not always on the racetrack at a test somewhere but its between racing, testing, appearances and things that I have to do for sponsors and to be part of this sport. I know I am busy so I look forward to taking time off."

The four time champ has been a photo target ever since he divorced his first wife Brooke and moved to New York City. A string of high profile affairs and tour on the New York party circuit have made Gordon a favorite 'page six' target as well as fodder for the tabloids.

Last year, photos of Gordon and girlfriend lounging on his yacht in the Hamptons with Gordon lovingly caressing her rump further fueled the theory that racing wasn't at the forefront of Gordon's agenda.

Gordon, however, dispels those rumblings.

"In 1998, I was building a house in Florida," explained Gordon. "I spent probably the least amount of time at the race shop that year. I had so many distractions because every spare moment I had was working on plans, architecture, designing this house, working with construction people and the headaches that go along with building a house.

"Every week there was something coming up and I won 13 races that year and killed them in the championship."

Of the nine races in the books this season, Gordon is winless with just three top five finishes and is currently sixth in Cup series point standings.
