By Eric Mauk: TNT seeing slight but steady improvements in NASCAR viewership this year
For the third straight week, ratings and viewership increased for NASCAR on TNT. Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Toyota/Save Mart 350 from Sonoma earned a 3.3 U.S. rating and 5.2 million viewers on TNT, a slight increase compared to last year (3.2, 5.188M), and up 22 percent from 2010 (2.7, 4.479M).
The telecast ranks as the third straight Sprint Cup race on TNT to have an increase in ratings and viewership compared to last year. So far this season, NASCAR coverage on TNT has averaged a 3.3 U.S. rating, up six percent from the comparable point last year.
