LEVEL CROSS, N.C. (Dec. 13, 2000) Petty Enterprises named Mark Tutor the crew chief for its No. 44 Georgia-Pacific Dodge to be driven by Buckshot Jones in 2001.

Tutor was announced as the crew chief for the NASCAR Winston Cup Series team Wednesday. He recently worked for Haas-Carter Motorsports in the same capacity for retired driver Darrell Waltrip. Tutor begins his duties immediately.

The 38-year-old, Raleigh, N.C., native previously worked with Cale Yarborough Motorsports, Robby Gordon Racing and Loy Allen Motorports.

Leading the preparation of Jones' cars could be a significant change for Totor, said Kyle Petty, chief executive officer of Petty Enterprises.

"It might be a culture shock or something, I don't know, moving from working with a guy with a ton of experience like Darrell to a guy with a lot of potential like Buckshot," Petty said. "Mark is going to be a great addition to our race team, not just from the aspect of the No. 44, but for all parts of Petty Enterprises."

The team, entering its 52nd year of racing, will return to Dodge next season. Along with fielding the No. 44 cars for Jones, the team will have the No. 43 Cheerios Dodges driven by John Andretti and the No. 45 Sprint Dodges driven by Petty.
