Tristar Motorsports, Inc. has announced today that they have signed a primary sponsorship agreement with "FansTeam.com" for the second half of the 2000 NASCAR Winston Cup Series for their Number 48 Team. TriStar has a long history of racing excellence in the NASCAR Winston Cup series including rookie of the year honors in 1991 with driver Bobby Hamilton and three pole positions, including the Daytona 500 in 1995 with driver Loy Allen, Jr. President Mark Smith states "The FansTeam.com sponsorship gives us the opportunity to bring TriStar back to the level of achievement we had in the early and mid 1990's". TriStar will premier the FansTeam.com number 48 car at the Pepsi 400 in early July at the Daytona International Speedway and has scheduled to race at the remaining speedway and super speedway events in 2000.
Tristar will sign Stanton Barrett as their driver for their 2000 schedule. Stanton already has experience from his Daytona 500 debut in February of this year. Smith adds "Stanton is a great addition to our team and brings the youth, skills and enthusiasm we want to grow our program". Mark Tutor Is slated to provide the Crew Chief duties for the FansTeam.com team and has worked with TriStar for several years on NASCAR programs and activities. Another important member of the team will be Donnie Allison who will provide his wealth of racing knowledge and sponsorship management in an advisory capacity. Smith indicates "Donnie is a long time friend and will give us the intangibles that are so important to running a successful NASCAR team.
The new sponsor for TriStar, FansTeam.com fan club specifically designed for NASCAR team sponsorship and is the creation of America's Team Motorsports based in Richmond, VA.
According to Kevin Hooghkirk President and CEO, "The FansTeam.com site is an all new experience for today's NASCAR fan. Membership in our internet based fan club provides NASCAR fans the opportunity to act like a sponsor and enjoy the benefits accorded to Team Sponsors." The site provides members, designated "Fan Sponsors", the opportunity to participate in Team. decisions on car design, driver uniform design, team logo and many other aspects of team management similar to other NASCAR sponsors. They will also participate in the various Fan Sponsor Access promotions that provide them, the NASCAR Fan, unprecedented access to the sport they love and, follow.
TriStar Motorsports is located in Huntersville, NC and is known for their outstanding racing engine pogram. They will begin bringing together their race team and initiate car testing during the few months prior to their 2000 debut. Smith explains "We are really excited to get back on the track and build our program back to its previous level. We have many of the necessary components to run well and the new sponsorship gives us the chance to grow into a World Class race team."
