Kvapil Knows Team Is Resilient
Team Looks for Better Performance at Texas,
Statesville, N.C. (April 13, 2010) - There may be no other team as tough as the No. 34 Long John Silver's team from Front Row Motorsports. The team has been together for over two years and continues to be a consistent presence in the NASCAR Sprint Cup garage no matter what circumstances the team faces. This weekend the team will be in a position to qualify on speed for Sunday's Samsung Mobile 500.
Kvapil and the team hope to lock themselves back into the top-35 after Sunday's race, but also hope to climb closer to the top 30. The team is 104 points outside the top 30 as they look to climb closer to that mark this weekend.
The team will welcome LP Building Products to the No. 34 Ford team this weekend. The Nashville, Tenn.-based company is a leading manufacturer of high-quality building materials. This will be the first time the company has joined Front Row Motorsports as an associate sponsor. LP has been named as one of the safest companies in America and operates production facilities in the U.S., Canada and South America.
Comments from Long John Silver's driver Travis Kvapil heading into Texas Motor Speedway:
"It was a tough weekend in Phoenix and we're in the position to qualify in at Texas. It really just puts our emphasis a little bit more on qualifying Friday. We've been fortunate not to be in this position this season, but we're pretty tough. We feel like we can put the pieces together and put in a strong qualifying effort.
"Texas is another mile-and-a-half, D-shaped oval, but it's very unique, too. It's got a little bit of bumps through the corners and the corner exits are flatter than most other tracks. You pick up the banking later into the corner and that's what makes it unique. It's a fun track to drive and I like it.
"It's very fast because it has a lot of grip, but you have to be very careful, too. The corner exit of Turn 2 and corner exit of Turn 3 are very flat. There is just not a lot of banking on them. So, it's a little tricky getting off the corners and getting into Turn 3. You see guys get out of shape a lot and there are usually a few big wrecks that you need to avoid.
"But, again, it's a great track to go to. The race fans always fill the grandstands up and always welcome us when we come to town. I won my very first truck series race there a few years back, so it's a place I enjoy going to. We need a good run this weekend and I'm pretty anxious to get there.
"It's nice to have support from LP Building Products this weekend. It's a perfect situation of a company that is interested in NASCAR and Front Row Motorsports is a perfect fit for them to get involved. We're always looking for more partners and that is going to make us run better, too. We're ready to show them a good race this weekend."
