KASEY KAHNE QUOTES
"Texas is another one of my favorite tracks. We've had success there in the past and expect to be competitive this weekend. The crew had great stops last week at Atlanta and we had good decisions on the adjustments during pit stops. We had a very good racecar, too. Everything is there. We just need to be around at the end. If we can do that this weekend, I think we can contend for the win. We just need a good finish to build momentum for the rest of the year and to follow into the 2006 season."
KASEY KAHNE AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Kahne made his first career Cup Series start at Texas Motor Speedway in April 2004. He started third and led his No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge to a second place finish. He led six times for a race-high 148 laps led that day.
Kahne's consecutive third-place starting positions at Texas give him the best average starting position at the racetrack among all active drivers.
SPENDING TIME UP FRONT
Kahne is ranked seventh overall in laps led among active drivers in the 2005 season. After 33 races, he has been at the point position for 430 laps.
WITH THE FRONT RUNNERS
Kahne has earned an average start of 15th in the 2005 season. Of the drivers who have competed in all 32 races this year, Kahne is ranked sixth, tied with teammate Jeremy Mayfield.
Kahne has two poles this season, ranking him fourth in a three-way tie among the drivers who have competed in all 32 races this year. Fellow drivers who share the three-way tie are Kevin Harvick and Matt Kenseth.
After racing at Atlanta, Kahne moved to the 22nd position of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup points standings. His points total of 3,377 is 112 points out of 19th and 405 points out of 11th.
EVERNHAM MOTORSPORTS MILESTONES
Kahne's 2005 win at Richmond, in addition to teammate Jeremy Mayfield's victory at Michigan, marked the first time that Evernham Motorsports teammates had each won a NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race in the same season.
