Jeff Burton, No. 31 AT & T Monte Carlo SS, met with members of the media at Texas Motor Speedway and discussed what is secret to success in the Chase; mindset of his team now, secret to repeating as race champion at TMS; announcement about SMI purchasing New Hampshire International Speedway and other topics:

ON IF JUST EXPERIENCE AS A DRIVER OR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN THE CHASE IS MORE IMPORTANT: "Well certainly the more you can do it, the better you are. The more times you experience the pressures, the expectations, just the experience of it. I don't know that gives them a head and shoulders advantage to win a championship. Fast race cars and good decisions is really what at the end of the day what makes championships, but I do believe that experience can help."

ON REPEATING AS WINNER AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDAY: "Driving good race cars. The car we won with in the spring is the same car we brought here this time. It is not a real fast car; it just runs the same speed all the time. The key for us to get long runs. This car really performs its best on old tires, tires that are completely worn out. We aren't really sure why, but we keep qualifying poorly with it, but we look at the practice speeds, fastest speeds aren't that good, but when you look at consistent times, it is awesome. We brought it back because it keeps giving us good results. It will be real important for us to have track position late in the race based on this car."
