"We cut a tire (left-front) on lap 90 and we could never come back. We caught some debris, I guess. Our plan was to pit on lap 99, so that was 9 laps early and it put us a lap down. All we could do was just ride around and wait for the caution that never came. That would have been our only chance to get our lap back."
Dale Earnhardt Jr., No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet Monte Carlo:
(How much deal-making was going on between guys to draft?) "None, really. You know, you just knew that if you screwed somebody, they was going to end up screwing you back. So you tried to hang with guys as long as you could. Normally, I mean, I don't think I really ditched too many people out there today. Maybe a couple."
(We're you surprised that this was a caution-free race?) "No, not really. It's always possible. You've just got to make the right decisions and don't get turned around at the end."
Mike Skinner, No. 31 Lowe's Chevrolet Monte Carlo:
"The Lowe's Chevy was bad to the bone at the beginning. It was just awesome. We tried different grooves on the track but had problems finding one that was better than another. But you just had to go where you could get at the time. I have no complaints. The car didn't need a single adjustment all day long. We just smacked four tires on it each time and kept going.
"We had a nice, safe race. That was the most important thing. Lots of people have wondered what would happen on the track today, but we had no problems. Maybe that will satisfy a lot of people. NASCAR has done a good job with the rules. They've spent a lot of time working in that department and what they got today was a fun, safe race with lots of lead changes.
"The Lowe's team did their job, to. I couldn't have asked for a better racecar all day. When we got out front, we could really pull the pack along. The Lowe's Chevy was strong every lap and my hat's off to these guys."
Dave Marcis, No. 71 Realree Chevrolet Monte Carlo (finished 38th):
"It was a good day. Excellent. I got a few doughnuts. I think this was my 61st race and that was excellent. I missed two here, I think. I didn't run the first one and I missed one other, I believe. There have been other caution-free ones, but not many. It was good to have a safe race today."
