Winston 500 postponed until Monday

The Winston 500, scheduled originally for Sunday, April 27 at Talladega Superspeedway, has been postponed to Monday, April 28 at 12 p.m. EDT due to heavy storms over the entire state of Alabama.

NASCAR Online followed the storm with its new feature, Weather Track, which delivers to users the same radar images being used by officials at the track. Check out yesterday's storm cell, and be sure to check back Monday for an update on conditions at the speedway.

Despite a similar situation on Saturday, one which NASCAR officials successfully completed the NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division event, Sunday was too wet. But if nothing else, it allowed pole-sitter John Andretti another 24 hours to enjoy his first pole of the year.

Andretti paced first-round qualifying for the Winston 500 at Talladega in his red and white RCA Ford. He toured the 2.66-mile oval at 193.627 mph to win his second career Busch Pole award.
